Ballengerb- I was searching for this and came across this post. I was asking the question for myself. I have a hampton bay callaway II fan. And after 5+ years, it is not working. I called them and they told me that most likely it is receiver for the remote, that is the problem. The new part is $45 + tax + Shipping. I don't think the fan is worth that much. I was thinking if I can remove the remote altogether and use the fan from the wall switch instead. I found something on eHow.com, but the instructions are not clear enough. OK I opened up the fan. The receiver unit has 8 wires. Incoming from electrical box (black) 2. Incoming from electrical box (white) 3. Outgoing from receiver (white) 4. Outgoing from receiver (blue) 5. Outgoing from receiver (pink) 6. Outgoing from receiver (red) 7. Outgoing from receiver (yellow) 8. Outgoing from receiver (grey) So if I disconnect and remove the receive I think Blue(4) and white(3) will connect the light. How do I connect the fan with the remaining 4 wires #5,6,7 &8 Attached is the picture of receiver that I am removing from the fan Any insight will be helpful.
